U.S. job openings edge down in September, quits at record high -Breaking

(Reuters) – U.S. job opportunities fell in September, but remained above levels pre-pandemic as employers struggle to find employees.

The Labor Department reported that job openings, which are a measure for labor demand, fell to 10.4million on September 31st. This is down from the upwardly revised 10.6million in August. Reuters polled economists to forecast 10.3 Million job openings.

The record-breaking number of Quits rose by 164,000 to 4.49 million.

Last Friday, the government announced that nonfarm payrolls rose by 531,000 in Oct. This is the biggest gain in three months after September’s 312,000 increase. Average job growth this year has been 582,000.
