REUTERS/Bernadett Szabo/File PhotoDUBAI (Reuters), – Wizz Air chief executive Jozsef Valradi stated that the Hungarian budget airline was designed for organic growth but not blind.
Wizz is an online platform that promotes organic growth. Varadi stated to Reuters that they believe what they mean is “Of course, we are interested market consolidation. To some degree we have the ability to pay this game. For example, we could buy airport slots.”
“We monitor the market for trending terms, and we’ll continue that. We’re not Lufthansa or an IAG (LON). These are consolidating forces. We are not. He said that while we are organic companies with clearly defined business models, “we are not blind” after declaring an order for 102 Dubai-based jets.
EasyJet said in September it was rejecting a takeover proposal and decided instead to raise $1.7billion from shareholders. Although it declined to identify its potential suitor, a source close to the situation told Reuters that Wizz Air was its preferred candidate.
