Schiff says Jan. 6 House committee will move quickly to refer Meadows for criminal contempt

A panel member had previously stated that Trump’s failure to show up could mean his contempt of Congress conviction. The move would come in the wake of similar actions being taken against Steve Bannon who was a Trump adviser. Last month, the House voted to hold Bannon in contempt of CongressHe ignored a subpoena to him for deposition and records.

Schiff stated to NBC that “when ultimately witnesses decide (as Meadows did), that they are not going to bother coming up, or that they do not respect the law,” Schiff said.
