Japan, U.S. agree to start talks on extra tariffs on steel, aluminium -Breaking

TOKYO (Reuters). During a meeting between Koichi Hagiuda, Japan’s Industries Minister and Gina Raimondo the United States Commerce Secretary discussed the possibility of resolving the additional U.S. steel and aluminum tariffs.

An official from the Japanese ministry of industry stated that no concrete measures had been agreed upon after the meeting.

On Friday, the United States announced that it would open negotiations with Japan to reduce tariffs on aluminum and steel imports. This is a persistent problem in bilateral trade relations.
