TOKYO, Reuters – Japan’s economic stimulus plan will include a plan for urgently strengthening the chip industry and the government will formulate a strategy to store batteries. Trade minister Koichi Haida stated Monday.

Hagiuda revealed the plan just days before Fumio Kishhida, Prime Minister of Japan, announced a package of stimulus funds in excess of tens to trillions of yen that will ease the suffering of COVID-19 and help to revive the economy.

Hagiuda indicated that government officials were considering encouraging the setting up of large-scale production plants for storage batteries. This was a key step to reaching digital goals.
