(Reuters) –Cineworld has seen its revenue grow steadily ever since reopening. It reached 90% in October pre-pandemic levels, and the operator added that there was more demand in the UK than in 2019.

This is the second-largest theater operator in the world. The company said that its recovery was driven by strong movies like “Black Widow” (and “No Time to Die”) and it expects future blockbusters to be successful if the COVID-19 situation does not deteriorate.

After being hit by COVID-19 and increased streaming competition, cinema owners around the world are turning to blockbusters such as “The Matrix Resurrections” for help.

Cineworld, which has reopened theaters since April, reported that its October revenues from Ireland and UK jumped by 127% to 2019 levels while those in the United States reached 80%.

By 0805 GMT, the midcap index, shares of Regal, the largest American cinema chain, rose by 5%.

Cineworld, which noted that October was a significant milestone in its recovery due to the increase in revenue and tighter costs control, reported positive cash flow.

AMC Entertainment, AMC’s bigger rival (NYSE:), beat its quarterly revenue estimates last week by a comfortable margin. But, the boss of AMC Entertainment warned there are coronavirus related challenges ahead.
