Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

These were the best performers of the session Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., which increased 7.29% (or 547.25) points to trade at 805.35 at close. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS) added 3.44%, or 31.90 point to reach 960.30 Tata Motors Ltd In late trade, NS: was up 2.69% (or 13.60 points) to 519.05

These were the worst performers of the session. Shree Cements Ltd. (NS): Traded at 28150.00 after the close, down 3.19%. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS) fell 2.32%, or 59.90 point to close at 2517.90. Tata Consumer Products Ltd was down 2.31% (or 19.70 points) to 832.85.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which rose 7.31% to 8049.65, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which was up 3.44% to settle at 960.30 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.56% to close at 1601.05.

Reliance Industries Ltd. (BO) was the worst performer, falling 2.58% to 2512.10 late trade. State Bank Of India lost 2.31% and settled at 495.00. UltraTech Cement Ltd. (BO) was also down 2.2% to 7869.75 by close.

By 942 to 799, falling stocks outnumbered advancing stock on India National Stock Exchange. 60 ended unchanged. The Bombay Stock Exchange had 1668 fall and 1567 advance, while 138 ended unchanged.

Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:) rose to 3-years highs; up 3.44% or 31.90 to 960.30. Tata Motors Ltd. (NS) shares rose 3.9% to 3 year highs, rising from 13.60 to 519. Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) rose to 3-years highs; up 3.44% or 31.95 to 960.30. Tech Mahindra Ltd. shares (BO) increased to their highest levels in 1.56%, or 24.55-1601.05.

For December delivery, Gold Futures rose 0.53% to $1876.50/troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil for January delivery rose 0.32 percent to $80.07 per barrel. The January Brent oil contract increased 0.39 percent to $82.44 per barrel.

USD/INR rose 0.00%, to 74.377. EUR/INR declined 0.09%, to 84.4700.

US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.9% at 95.582.
