Orange CFO forecasts ‘inevitable’ merger within French telecoms -Breaking

PARIS, (Reuters) – France will see its number of telecom operator fall from 4 to 3, Orange’s CFO stated on Wednesday. Altice and Iliad, who have recently completed take-private deals, might improve prospects for a merger.

French telecoms markets are still not fully recovering from the protracted price war initiated by Iliad’s Free Mobile services 2012 and which saw cut-throat offer after another affecting each of four operators’ performance. Bouygues (PA:) Telecom.

The industry leaders are now attempting to consolidate their businesses, though all of them have failed so far.
