REUTERS/Hannah McKay/File PhotoBOSTON (Reuters), – On Wednesday, two of America’s most respected sustainable-business associations announced that they were merging to enhance services and advocacy as well as to assist members in finding better investment opportunities.
As individuals and institutions invest in funds that consider environmental, governance and governance factors when selecting holdings, the interest in responsible investing has increased.
Leaders said that the combined group would be called the American Sustainable Business Network. It will include the Social Venture Circle and American Sustainable Business Council.
Well-known members of the former include outdoor clothing maker Patagonia Inc and utility Green Mountain Power; members of the latter include the Ben & Jerry’s unit of Unilever (NYSE:) PLC and ESG investor Trillium Asset Management.
The new network will include all four of them. It will have 800 members, 110 associations and groups such as National Center for Employee Ownership, and 20 employees.
