Deere workers end strike after approving six-year contract -Breaking

REUTERS/Mohammad Khursheed(Reuters) -Deere & Co workers ended their strike on Wednesday after approving a new six-year contract, the third offer proposed by the world’s largest farm equipment maker.
Here are some of the key events that took place in the span of the past four months, since the start negotiations between the company and the union.
17.08.2009: UAW, DEERE BEGIN NEGOTIATIONS
Deere (NYSE:) and the UAW start talks on a new labor agreement covering about 10,100 production and maintenance employees at 12 Deere facilities in Iowa, Illinois and Kansas.
OCT. 1. DEERE, UAW Reach TENTATIVE AGREEMENT
After six weeks of negotiations, both sides reach a tentative pact on a new six-year labor agreement. On October 10, members of Deere were scheduled to meet and review the terms.
OCT.10: DEERE EMPLOYEES RELEASE TENTATIVE AGREEEMENT
The 6-year contract is opposed by 90% of the workers. At the end of October, a strike deadline will be set.
OCT. 14: WORKERS GO OUT ON STRIKE AS UAW FELS TO REACH A DEAL
Deere workers go on strike. Company says they don’t know when the affected employees will return to work, or when talks with UAW would be completed.
OCT. 18, DEERE RESUMES NEGTIATIONS WITH UAW
OCT. 20 – AGRICULTURE SECRETARY VILSACK PROVIDES SUPPORT TO STRIKING CORPORATE WORKERS
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack meets striking union members and offers support.
OCT.21: DEERE IS NOW ACCESSED TO TEMPORARY IJUNCTION LIMITING WORKER PICKET LENGTH
A judge in Iowa grants the company temporary protection against strike union members who enter or leave its Davenport Works facility.
A judge restricts the number picketers at any gate to four.
OCT. 30: DEERE, UAW AGREE ON NEW 6-YEAR CONTRACT
Deere & the UAW agree on a new six-year contract, pending a vote by the striking workers.
NOV. 2 – STRIKE CONTINUES, AS WORKERS REJECT ANOTHER CONTRACT.
Around 55% of Deere’s striking workers vote no to a second contract between Deere and the UAW which bumped up pay and bonus.
NOV. 3 – DEERE CONSIDERS REJECTED OFFER TYPE “BEST (NYSE) AND FINAL; STRIKE CONTINUES
Deere claims its current offer is “best and last”, but it adds that all other options would be considered as long as there’s a strike. A spokesperson for Deere says that talks will continue between the company and union.
Nov. 12, DEERE MAKES THE “LAST BEST AND FINAL OFFER.”
Deere offers a final, best and conclusive offer that contains “modest modifications to” its second contract offer, according to the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America. However, it did not provide further information.
NOV. 17, DEERE STRETCH TO END AS THE WORKERS REVOTE TO APPROVE A CONTRACT
The majority of Deere & Co Striking workers approve modified contracts offered by farm equipment manufacturer, ending nearly six weeks of strike.
