WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The U.S. Marine Corps has the worst record of vaccination among all military branches. Up to 10,000 personnel are expected to miss the Nov. 28 deadline.

Minimum 94% or more Marines are already on the path to meeting President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 vaccination requirements. But for the remaining 10,000, it’s too late to begin and finish the vaccine process before the deadline.

Unfortunately, the Marines were not immediately available for comment.

The Department of the Navy is responsible for the Marine Corps. It is the least populous U.S. army branch. The Navy boasts 99.7% vaccination rates, which is among the best in the military.

The Nov. 3 deadline had resulted in at least 97% of the active-duty personnel of the Department of the Air Force (which oversees the U.S. Air Force and Space Force), being vaccinated.

Around 95% of Army personnel received the vaccine at least once. The largest branch of the military is this one. Active duty personnel have the last deadline to receive the vaccine, Dec. 15.

Biden declared in September that he would require all federal employees and contractors to have their vaccines. Employees of large companies should also be required to have their vaccinations or tests done to ensure the spread of the Delta strain of the virus. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data indicate that COVID-19 is responsible for more than 770,000 deaths in the U.S.

The United States is considered to have fully vaccinated nearly 60% of Americans, or 195.7 millions people. However, the United States reports daily increases in the number of people who are vaccinated for the past 2 weeks. These increase were driven by Delta, and more people staying indoors during colder months.
