MOSCOW, (Reuters) – Sunday’s Kremlin accuses the West of inducing tensions within Ukraine. The Kremlin repeated claims suggesting that Russia was ready to strike. Washington also asked its allies to stop a nearby military build-up.

Antony Blinken (US Secretary of State) stated that his country is concerned about Russian activity at Ukraine’s borders. He made this statement after Ukraine had indicated it fears Russia was preparing for an attack.

Since nearly two weeks U.S. and NATO officials made similar statements to Ukrainian officials, in reference to unusual Russian troop movements within the vicinity of Ukraine.

This weekend, the Ukrainian military intelligence chief told Military Times that Russia already has over 92,000 troops around the borders of Ukraine and was preparing to attack the country by January/February.

Kyrylo Bunov indicated that this attack might involve air strikes, artillery, armoured attacks, as well as air strikes in the east. Amphibious assaults in Odessa or Mariupol would follow, along with smaller incursions through Belarus.

Moscow rejected such claims as inflammatory and complained about NATO’s increasing presence in the area.

Dmitry Peskov (Kremlin spokesperson) said in comments that “a provocation” was possible due to all U.S. rhetoric.

This hysteria has been artificially created. We have been accused by people who brought their armies from other parts of the world of doing some unusual military activities on our territory. Peskov stated that this is the United States of America.

“It is not really polite or logical.”

Peskov said that Ukraine might be looking to use force as a solution for its problems.

Russia annexed Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula and Russian-backed separatists took over a large part of eastern Ukraine in 2014.

Peskov claimed that Russia would like NATO to end “concentrating a militarist” close to Russia’s border and to arm Ukraine with modern weaponry.

In September, the Kremlin stated that NATO could cross Russian lines if it increased its military infrastructure in Ukraine.

Two reconstructed U.S. Coast Guard Patrol boats were carried by a ship that transited through the Dardanelles Strait Saturday.

Ukraine is aspiring to be a NATO member. It received an enormous consignment from the United States earlier in this year. Also, Javelin antitank missiles were sent. This prompted Moscow’s criticism.
