Uber to halt app in Brussels from Friday after court ruling -Breaking

AMSTERDAM, (Reuters) – Uber Technologies (NYSE.:) Inc. announced that it will cease operations in Brussels starting Nov. 26, after a court ruled professional drivers are also subject to the 2015 ban on taxi service providers.

Uber claimed that the Wednesday decision of the Brussels Appeals Court would affect approximately 2,000 drivers. It urged Belgium to swiftly change its taxi-service laws.
