LONDON (Reuters – The UK Health Security Agency released data on Thursday showing that COVID-19 vaccinations are safe and do not pose a risk to pregnant women. They also showed no evidence of higher complications. Officials urged all pregnant women to consider the shots.

According to the UKHSA, other research has shown that vaccines can be given at all stages of pregnancy using the real-world data from COVID-19’s rollout in Britain.

The study found no significant differences between unvaccinated and vaccinated mothers in terms of rates of stillbirths and births of low-birthweight babies, and the percentage of premature births.

Officials claimed that data was especially comforting because the first women offered the vaccine to pregnant women were those who had underlying conditions and were more likely to experience complications.

According to Dr Mary Ramsay of UKHSA’s Immunisation Department, “Every pregnant woman should go get the vaccine. It will protect her from the severe consequences of contracting COVID-19.”

UKHSA data showed that stillbirths in vaccinated women were slightly higher than those of unvaccinated, at 3.35 per 1,000.

The percentage of premature births by women was slightly higher for those who were vaccinated than for those who weren’t.

Pregnant women not yet vaccinated by the government are being urged to do so.

According to the health ministry, COVID-19 was more dangerous than getting vaccine.

According to the study, 98% of women with COVID-19 symptoms were pregnant. Vaccine take-up rates in certain minority areas were lower.
