The City of Lugano’s digital innovation lab, Lugano Living Lab (November 15-21), hosted an extraordinary exhibition exploring the world of NFT/Crypto Art. It featured events, workshops, and an exhibit.

Lugano is increasingly a Blockchain & Crypto-Friendly City. Following the release at the beginning of 2020 of MyLugano’s app and the LVGAPoints citizen payment token as well as the creation of 3Achain by the city, it is time for the NFTs. A review of art and technology will be conducted to better understand the emerging, highly topical phenomenon.

The Non-fungible Tokens are cryptographic systems that allow you to prove ownership and authenticity. They are used in digital art to verify the rarity and uniqueness of works. NFT, however, is not the work of an artist or a phenomenon. Instead it’s the certification that has been registered on blockchain.

It’s a paradigm-shifting event that has opened up new opportunities for the art market. One of its strengths is the ability to unleash enormous creativity by providing an avenue to expressions, languages and grammars that have been previously excluded from traditional art systems. This was possible thanks to strong support from the bottom.

Lugano Living Lab promoted the exhibition, which featured exhibitions and events dedicated to this phenomenon.

On the ground floor of Villa Ciani there will be the exhibition entitled “The Future is Unwritten”, curated by Ivan Quaroni and Linda Tommasi. The exhibition “The Future is Unwritten”, curated by Linda Tommasi and Ivan Quaroni, features a selection from hundreds of the works that comprise the Poseidon Group collection. It is the most significant European art collection. The collection includes works from internationally renowned artists such as Raphael Lacoste and Giovanni Motta, Andre Chiampo, and two Cryptopunks (from Larva Labs). Alongside this exceptional team, the curators have selected a core of young artists or newcomers in the NFT universe, such as Niro Perrone, Nicola Caredda, Giuseppe Veneziano, Adriana Glaviano and Giò Roman, for the quality and originality of their works.

Instead, the first floor will be dedicated to gaming enthusiasts and an exhibit of digital or collectible pieces. Visitors will thus be able to discover NFTs developed by Lugano-based companies, including Crypto Heroes, a game based on NFTs and the NFT Gaming protocol by Noku, the online 3D entertainment platform The Nemesis by UNDO Studios, which combines the technology of worlds virtual to gaming and gamification, as well as NFT of products from the world of luxury and jewels, real “passports” of authenticity and ownership, made by Luxochain.io.

The NFTs will be on display, along with Cryptogene and Scriblet Clubhouse featuring Shifty Shepherds created by Juliet Duplessie. All three of these projects were funded by Sortium. Pangea is a fund that invests in Blockchain projects. It has offices in Lugano. Sports enthusiasts will also be able to view the NFTs at Topps. Topps is a global leader in sports collectibles and has been around for over ten years.

The first floor will feature a viewing area where digital subjects of the Swiss Post’s first Crypto Stamp (a stamp that is associated with NFT digital representations and will be released on November 25th) will be available.

Participation in the collective creation of an artistic work will be available throughout the week at the NFT Lugano citizen exhibition. This first “NFT Luganese” will then be created in a limited series and a numbered copy will be sent to all those who have contributed to its creation.

On Wednesday, 15 November at 17:00, the exhibition was inaugurated. It will remain open for free until November 21st during week 11:00-18:30 and weekend 09:00-18:30.

As part of the Lugano Living Lab exhibition, it proposes a Talk entitled “The NFT World” in which experts from the business and academic world will explore various application fields of the tool and a workshop “Create your NFT” to allow anyone who wishes to create their first NFT in a few simple steps.
