(Reuters). Investigators sifted through a crime scene, analyzed surveillance video and social media to discover what led a 15 year-old boy to commit a horrific shooting spree at his Detroit school.

Officials withheld the name of the suspect because he was a minor. The boy opened fire with a semiautomatic handgun that his father bought four days prior, killing three Oxford High School students.

According to police, a teacher was also hurt, as were seven other students. Some of these injuries are critical.

Michael Bouchard from Oakland County stated at a press conference that there was no explanation given by investigators for the “unforgivable” violence in Oxford. The incident occurred just hours after it happened.

He said, “This affects us all personally and profoundly. And will continue to do so for a long period.”

Bouchard reported that the suspect was taken into custody minutes after shooting started and disarmed.

Reporters were told by the sheriff that “the person with the greatest insight about motive is not speaking.”

Bouchard claimed he didn’t know of any past encounters between law enforcement and the suspect. The student was a high school sophomore. Investigators did not find anything that would suggest an underlying history of misconduct or threats.

According to him, forensic technicians will likely spend the night collecting evidence at the crime scene. Detectives then begin gathering video footage from the security cameras around school. They also conduct interviews with suspects and witnesses.

According to him, a warrant for search was issued at the Oxford home of the suspect and that his phone had been seized.

THREE DEATHS, EIGHT BOUND

Bouchard acknowledged the quick actions of his deputies in preventing more deaths, saying that they reached the scene within minutes and proceeded straight to the sound of gunshots.

Bouchard stated that officers confronted the assailant, who was moving down a corridor towards them with a weapon in his hand.

Police are not certain of the exact sequence of the events that led to the violence, however, they believe that the suspect brought the gun into school with him in a backpack.

Bouchard stated that the only information he has is that he entered a toilet with a weapon and didn’t go to any other places.

According to the sheriff, prosecutions will decide on the charges against each suspect. They also determine whether or not the suspect should remain as an adult.

According to David Coulter, Oakland County executive, the boy was not hurt and was currently being held in a cell with suicide monitor at a juvenile jail.

Trois students died: one 16-year old boy, who was riding in his patrol car to get to a hospital. Two 14-year-old girls were also killed, authorities claimed.

Bouchard reported that the three other victims of gunfire were a teenage boy and a girl, both 15, who sustained a gunshot to their heads. Two girls suffered chest injuries, which left them in critical condition. Bouchard added that the remaining two students, a 14-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl, were also hospitalized. After surgery, the younger girl was placed on ventilator.

According to him, the four teens remaining victims were either in serious or stable conditions. One teacher received treatment for a neck injury and was discharged.

According to Michael McCabe, the undersheriff of McCabe, 15-20 rounds were fired in the rampage that lasted just five minutes.

Bouchard claimed that the boy was carrying a semi-automatic 9 millimeter handgun, which his father purchased Nov. 26 along with three magazines of 15 rounds. According to the sheriff, seven rounds of ammunition remained in their gun after the youth’s arrest.

According to Sheriff, the boy “had been shooting” with his gun just before Tuesday’s attack. The sheriff said that the boy posted images of the gun and the target he was using.

Recent school shootings in America will be the latest in a string of horrific incidents. This is likely to spark debates on gun control. While many states permit easy access, mental illnesses are often left untreated.

Gretchen Whitmer from Michigan said, “This is a unique American problem that needs to be addressed.” She rushed on to the scene with McCabe and made a joint appearance before the media.
