Crypto.com Will Acquire Nadex And The Small Exchange From IG Group
  • Crypto.com acquires Nadex from IG Group and Small Exchange.
  • Crypto.com’s U.S. customers now have access to derivatives and futures trading through the proposed acquisition.
  • Both acquisitions are expected to be completed by Crypto.com in the first quarter of 2022.

Crypto.com will continue its swift quest to improve the cryptocurrency and make it more accessible for the future. The world’s fastest-growing cryptocurrency and financial services platform announced it has just executed a sale and purchase agreement to acquire a North American Derivatives Exchange, Nadex from the IG Group.

More than that, Crypto.com also agreed to secure the Small Exchange — a revolutionary futures exchange offering smaller, simpler products aimed towards retail customers. Whilst, Nadex is a leading U.S.-based retail-focused, regulated online exchange and clearinghouse offering derivative products on some of the world’s most heavily traded markets.

With the planned acquisitions of Nadex, the Small Exchange and Nadex, Crypto.com can offer U.S.-based clients the possibility to trade derivatives and other futures products. What’s more, depending on regulatory approval, Crypto.com plans to complete the acquisition of Nadex and the Small Exchange in the first half of 2022.

Kris Marszalek (co-founder) and Crypto.com CEO, share their plans for the acquisition. According to him,

We want to be a trusted platform providing our customers financial security, trust, and regulation. Our customers will have access to new financial tools that complement the existing offering. This acquisition is a continuation of our promise.

Nadex, a subsidiary to IG Group (LON : IGG), a global financial services firm with a $4.3 billion market cap. Nadex, based in Chicago, Illinois, is the leading U.S. exchange for binary options, call spreads, and Touch BracketTM (“knock-out”) contracts, providing traders with safe and creative methods to trade. Nadex, which is also registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, can be subject to regulatory oversight.

Small Exchange on the other side is a futures trading platform that targets retail traders. The exchange offers products that are simpler, capital efficient, simple to use and easy to understand. Market-makers/liquidity providers, Introducing Brokers (IBs), Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs), proprietary trading businesses, and hedge funds are among the market participants who benefit from the Chicago-based firm’s trading of exchange-created custom products.

Donald Roberts, Travis McGhee, and Travis McGhee, will still be CEOs at Nadex and Small Exchange after the closure.

June Felix, Global CEO of IG Group, expresses excitement over the deal. He says he thinks this is a great deal and beneficial for all. He says that Nadex, the Small Exchange and other innovative businesses are both strong and that Crypto.com recognizes their potential. He says that it will be an exciting period for all involved, clients included.
