REUTERS/Susana Vera/File PhotoMADRID (Reuters – Spain’s jobless rate fell to 2.28% in November, a drop of 74,381 people from October. The Labour Ministry reported that Spain has reached its pre-pandemic level of unemployment with over 3.18million people without work.
According to the ministry, this data represents the ninth consecutive month with falling unemployment figures. It also marks the lowest November number of jobless since 2008.
Spain had 109,451 new net jobs in March, and some 125.632 were still enrolled with the state supported furlough system, 39.992 more than a month before, separate data from Social Security Ministry revealed.
The ministry reports that this increase has led to a record number of workers being registered in Spain, at 19.77 million.
Spain saw strong job growth during the second half year thanks to the control of pandemics in countries with high vaccination rates.
While tourism data remains far below pre-pandemic levels in many areas, it is showing promise for growth in autumn activity. In the catering sector alone, more than 30,000 new jobs were created.
Construction and industry created jobs steadily, and every region registered positive numbers.
The number of Spanish infected people is on the rise in the sixth wave pandemic. However, the government has so far not placed any new restrictions.
