SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters – Drag Queens, a Drag King, took over a San Francisco skating rink as part of the 12th annual Drag Queens on Ice show. They amazed everyone with their outrageous costumes, funny moves, and surprising abilities.

In Union Square, the city’s shopping district, performers did a show of their talent on Thursday, performing in amazing costumes and lip-syncing to “Shake it Off” from Taylor Swift, “Man, You Feel Like A Woman” (Shania Twain) and “All that I Want for Christmas.”

This was Paju Munro’s sixth ice performance as Drag Queen San Francisco, who has been a drag queen for over 15 years. The 45-year old Brazilian skater has the skills and charisma to impress the crowd, but he also pointed out the entertainment aspect of the show.

“At night, they call it Drag Queens on Ice, not pro skaters dressed in drag.” This is where people come. They expect us to laugh, to fall. You are not expected to perform a triple-axle. Paju Munro stated that it’s all entertainment.

Jota Mercury (29 years old) from Oakland, California also participated in the event. Mercury was only able to skate on the ice for just a few hours before this event.

Drag Survival is the focus of tonight. Tonight I will perform for the life of me. It is so exciting. Jota stated that Brunch can be fun but that it is even more exciting when performed on ice.

After being cancelled in 2011 due to the COVID-19 pandemic it was back on the schedule.

Denali Foxx, who is a Drag Queen and starred in RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13, was also part of this year’s edition. Brian Boitano, an American figure skater, also participated.
