(Reuters] – A Myanmar court will deliver Monday’s first ruling in Aung San Suu Kyi’s case for Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. This is the former popular leader who was overthrown by the military during a coup 10 years ago.

Suu Kyi has been charged in a total of 12 cases, including multiple corruption allegations and violations of a telecoms law, state secrets act, COVID-19 regulations. The combined sentence of these two laws is more than one hundred years imprisonment.

Suu Kyi’s verdict is being delayed from last week. Win Myint (the ousted president) faces jail sentences of 2 years and 3 years respectively for incitement. They denied the allegations.

Suu Kyi’s supporters (76) claim the charges are baseless, designed to end her political career, and tie her up while military consolidates control.

According to the junta, Suu Kyi has been given fair process by an independent tribunal headed by a Judge appointed by her administration.

Since the February 1 coup, Myanmar has been in chaos. Protests have escalated and instability has increased after the brutal crackdown by the junta on those it considers “terrorists.”

The violence was condemned by the international community and Western nations have demanded Suukyi’s freedom.

Journalists and media have been barred from covering the Naypyitaw trial. The junta has not made any mention of the matter through its public information channels. Suu Kyi’s lawyers were barred from speaking to the media or public.
