Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

Top performers in the BSE Sensex 30 include Tata Steel Ltd. (BO) with a rise of 3.63% at 1149.35; AXIS Bank Ltd.(BO:), which saw a rise of 3.60% at 687.20, and ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO) who gained 3.46% at 734.65.

The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which was down 0.22% to 3031.30 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which gained 0.27% to settle at 698.95 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which was up 0.56% to 4528.50 at the close.

In India, declining stocks were outnumbered by rising ones 1374 to 386. 52 ended unchanged. On Bombay Stock Exchange 2261 rose while 923 fell, while 116 ended unchanged.
