The imprisoned Ross Ulbricht, founder of e-commerce marketplace ‘Silk Road,’ released his NFT collection on the 2nd of December in a bid to inspire change in America’s juridical system. Auctions for the collection will be held through the 8th December.

Ulbricht is condemned to remain in prison for the rest of his life, though many believe he was treated unfairly and didn’t deserve such a fate.

“With [the]We will use the proceeds of this NFT to start a donor-advised charity called Art4Giving that is dedicated to alleviating the sufferings of prisoners and their families. There is a lot we can do, but one idea I am committed to is to help kids travel to visit their moms and dads in prison,”
Ulbricht shared.

Organization FreeRoss.org is taking the initiative to change Ross’s sentence; their petition has been signed by more than 460k people.

FreeRossDAO was created by cryptocurrency investors to raise funds for the purchase of Genesis Collections as well as protest the inhumanities that are inherent to the American prison system.

was the only currency accepted on the Silk Road, and Ross’s vision was to create a community where people could trade freely, with their privacy secured.

Ross Ulbricht’s Genesis Collection NFT also includes poems and drawings made while in prison.

“I told a story, with words and drawings, of a typical day in maximum security, and my collaborators animated it from my point of view as a prisoner. All of this is incorporated into the NFT. It is my story as art,”
Ross wrote.
