DETROIT (Reuters) – Ford Motor Co (NYSE:) Co stated Tuesday that in conjunction with Salesforce.com Inc, it would launch a new subscription-based software service aimed specifically at small businesses.

It will be provided by Ford Pro’s commercial vehicle and service unit. Ford announced that this system, which uses Salesforce technology, will digitize documentation for contractors, repair technicians, and other tradespeople. It costs just $39 per monthly per user.

Customers of VIIZR don’t need to own Ford vehicles. However, the small-business target market is similar to a market that Ford trucks and vans are able access.

Ford and other automakers are working together to develop steady, recurring subscription revenues to augment vehicle sales revenue that could be affected by downturns economics or disruptions such as the shortage of semiconductors.

Salesforce and other software-as-a-service companies tend to command higher stock valuations than manufacturers. Salesforce’s market capitalization is nearly $253 billion, while Ford’s was $76 billion.

Ford stated that it would offer free trial access to the VIIZR system for businesses ahead of its launch in 2022’s first quarter.
