Amazon services down for thousands of users

(Reuters) -Amazon.com Inc services such as Amazon (NASDAQ) Web Services, Prime Video and their namesake ecommerce site were affected by outage tracking website Downdetector.com on Tuesday for thousands.

Downdetector, which logged more than 14,000 instances of Amazon customers reporting problems, keeps track of outages through the collection of status reports from various sources. It also includes errors submitted by users.

It is possible that the outage will affect more users.

Amazon reported that they were experiencing API and console problems in the US-EAST-1 region. It also stated it had identified the problem and was currently working on resolving the matter.

It would mark the company’s third outage of the year.

Amazon services experienced some disruptions in June, with Prime Video and Alexa experiencing a short outage. The disruption to its online store service in July was nearly two hours long and affected over 38,000 customers.
