(Reuters). Discord chat platform will begin a pilot testing to permit content creators and sellers to offer subscriptions for their online communities. The company announced Tuesday that it is trying to catch up to the burgeoning creator market.

As social media stars in a wide variety of industries, including fashion and entertainment as well as cryptocurrency, they are increasing their income by charging subscribers or charging to access their YouTube videos.

Now Discord will offer the feature directly on its website.

Derek Yang, Discord’s lead product manager, stated that “Naturally, we want creators success, and we must make running communities (on Discord more sustainable.”

Creators have the option to offer up to 3 levels of Discord Community membership. They can also set the price for each tier between $2.99 and $99.99 per Month.

Discord stated that creators will be able see analytics data, which can help them better understand the performance of their business, like how much revenue each member tier is earning.

Before it becomes more widespread, the pilot testing will be conducted with just a few creators.
