Deutsche Post names Tobias Meyer CEO from 2023 -Breaking

BERLIN (Reuters), Deutsche Post (OTC) announced Wednesday that Tobias Meyer, long-serving boss Frank Appel’s contract was extended to the end of his term. Meyer will replace him as chief executive officer in May 2023.

Meyer has served as the German Post and Parcel Division’s Head and was a member the management board of the Group since March 2019. He will be leading the Global Business Services Unit from July 2022, before being appointed the CEO of the Group in May 2023.

Reuters published Monday’s report, citing unnamed sources, saying that Appel’s contract expires in 2022 and was likely to be extended.

“After carefully considering, I have decided to not remain for another term in office,” Appel announced in a statement Wednesday.

Two sources familiar with the matter said that Appel was also the favorite to be the next chairman of Deutsche Telekom’s supervisory board (OTC:).
