LONDON — The U.K. government could be poised to announced more Covid restrictions for England amid concerns over the spread of the omicron variant, according to a report in the Financial Times on Wednesday.

Three unnamed Whitehall senior officials were quoted by the paper as saying that sources told them the government was implementing its “Plan B”, which includes increased restrictions such as vaccine passports at large venues, and orders to work remotely.

According to sources close to the government, these new restrictions might be revealed at a conference Wednesday morning and then laid before Parliament Thursday.

When contacted by The FT, Downing Street didn’t immediately reply to requests for comment.
