(Reuters) – Dollar Tree Inc (NASDAQ:) will see a refresh of its board, Mantle Ridge LP an activist investor said Friday in a regulatory filing. The disclosure came at a moment when discount chain Lowe’s is seeking to improve its pricing strategies.

Dollar Tree revealed plans last month to begin selling all goods at $1.25 at its nameake locations. It did this to mitigate the effect of spiraling freight prices and other pandemic-driven problems.

Mantle Ridge added that “The board should conduct a thoughtful, deliberative review” of the company’s strategies. Dollar Tree should also examine whether it is possible to hire former employees. Dollar General Corp Richard Dreiling, Chief Executive Officer at NYSE, to assume a leadership position

J.P. Morgan analyst said last month that Dreiling’s involvement at Dollar Tree might be a game-changer. He also mentioned that he is the one who facilitated Dollar General’s turnaround, which saw it double its revenues from 2008 through 2015.

Mantle Ridge reported that three of its advisors, along with one of their representatives, met Dollar Tree’s board members to discuss these matters. It expects the talks to continue.

In addition, the activist investor said that an affiliate of Dollar Tree had delivered notice to Dollar Tree’s corporate secretary Friday naming 11 candidates to be elected to the board during its 2022 annual stockholders meetings.

Dollar Tree is currently not represented by any of these 11 nominees.

Mantle Ridge revealed a stake of $1.8 billion in Dollar Tree in November. This represents 5.7% of outstanding shares and an economic interest of another 4.2%.

Dollar Tree also reported that its net sales rose by 4%, while the company’s income dropped.

Paul Lejuez, Citi analyst at the time, called the quarter “not good”, even though he stated that Mantle Ridge was likely to give investors hope that Dollar Tree will continue making changes. This could lead to stronger sales and better profitability.
