LONDON (Reuters – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a productive meeting on Friday with counterparts from Britain and France. The discussion included a discussion about the Iran nuclear accord, a State Department spokesperson stated on Saturday.

Vienna, Thursday saw talks resumed between Iran’s world powers and other countries regarding the renewal of the 2015 nuclear accord.

Yesterday, Secretary Blinken met with E3 counterparts in France, Germany and the UK. They discussed the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) talks and our way forward,” the State Department spokesperson said.

On the eve G7 foreign ministers meeting, the meeting in Liverpool took place. The event is likely to lead to a call to Iran for a moderated nuclear program as well as an invitation to Vienna to hold talks. [L1N2SW06E]

In return for U.S. and European Union sanctions relief, Iran agreed to limit its nuclear program under the 2018 original nuclear agreement. Iran denies that the West is concerned about this programme being used for weapons development.
