Developer Samuel Dobson Announcement via a series of tweets on Thursday night that he is stepping down as a Core maintainer after three years as he “can no longer dedicate the time required, as I approach the end of my Ph.D.”

Dobson, a Bitcoin Core wallet keeper, had direct access on GitHub to the crypto’s source code. This allowed him to approve and improve the Bitcoin software. Dobson was responsible for the protocol’s security.
