REUTERS/Kevin LamarqueWASHINGTON (Reuters), – Monday’s U.S. Transportation Security Administration report stated that in 2021 security staff confiscated over 5,700 firearms from airport security checkpoints. It was the largest single year of such high numbers.
David Pekoske, TSA Administrator, stated that the previous yearly record was approximately 4,400.
He stated that he believes the reason for the increased number of guns being carried in America is due to an increase in their firearms.
An unloaded firearm can be transported on board an aircraft by passengers, but it cannot be carried in checked baggage.
