Facebook’s Horizon Worlds is now available to all US and Canadian adultsFacebook (NASDAQ.) (now Meta), has revealed that Horizon Worlds, its virtual reality experience platform for social VR is now free to all users in Canada and the US.
Social media giant, Meta’s Oculus VR, announced Thursday that the platform, which was in beta for a year ago, will now be available to all 18-year-olds in select regions. Consequently, all Meta’s Oculus VR headset users will be able to create a legless avatar to play games and interact in a virtual environment.
Meta also opened Horizon Worlds to new users. Meta released Arena Clash, a team-based laser tag game that is 3v3 and can be played by teams. Horizon Worlds has new templates and mechanics for creators that can be used in the creation of their games. The scripts of creators may be modified.
Facebook launched a $100 million Creator Fund in October. So it’s not surprising that the company has been pushing for its metaverse dreams. The company noted this in a blog entry:
Horizon Worlds must be safe and respectful. Everyone should follow the Conduct in VR Policy. Your wrist menu gives you access to your Safe Zone, where you can take a break or block, mute, or report other users.
