French fashion house Chanel appoints Unilever executive Leena Nair as CEO -Breaking

PARIS (Reuters), – Leena Naair, a London-based executive from Unilever (NYSE) named Tuesday as the new global chief executive of Chanel.

In a statement, the group stated that Alain Wertheimer, a French billionaire who co-owns Chanel, will take on the title of global executive Chairman.

Nair has been with Unilever for 30 years. He was most recently the chief of Human Resources and an executive committee member.

Chanel is known for its tweed suits and quilted handbags. Nair will join Chanel in January, according to 5 fragrance. The new appointments will ensure the company’s “long-term success” as a private business.
