Ex-McKinsey partner pleads guilty to insider trading in Goldman Sachs fintech deal

For bets he had placed ahead of time, a former McKinsey associate has pled guilty in securities fraud Goldman Sachs” $2.2 Billon acquisition of fintech lender GreenSky.

Puneet Dhikshit (40), was chargedInsider trading was a topic of discussion last month. The accusation was that he used information gathered in his role as an advisor to Goldman in order to place out of the money option bets on two days prior the announcement. This netted him more than $450,000.

Puneet dikshit, United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, admitted today in court that he had used his access of material nonpublic data about the pending acquisition of GreenSky, Inc., just a month ago.

Dikshit pleaded guilty to one charge of securities fraud. This carries a maximum sentence of 20 year imprisonment. His sentence is scheduled for March 30.

With the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Securities and Exchange Commission, the Justice Department’s Securities and commodities Fraud task force and other agencies handled the case.

CNBC reported in September that GreenSky Options had been the subject of suspicious trading.
