Nissan to build new battery recycling factories in U.S., Europe by 2025 -Nikkei -Breaking

TOKYO, Reuters – Nissan Motor Co Ltd (OTC) plans to construct new batteries recycling plants in Europe and the United States by the end fiscal 2025 according to the Daily.

Nikkei reported that Nissan believes recycling batteries would reduce production costs and allow them to be re-used in electric vehicles (EVs), as the cost of rare metals increases.

According to the report, these factories will be the first company-owned battery recycling plant built in Europe, but it was not specified where.

Reuters reached Nissan but they did not respond immediately to a request.

Last month, the company revealed its plan to electrify, spending 2 trillion Japanese yen (or $17.53 billion) each year to improve vehicle electrification and catch up to rivals in one the fastest growing car market segments.

Car maker stated that they will launch 23 electrified cars, which includes 15 EVs by 2030.
