BERLIN, (Reuters) – Volkswagen (DE), sales are likely to fall below 9,000,000 units in 2012 due to production bottlenecks. Manager Magazin reports that this was reported by people who were familiar with the situation.

Manager Magazin stated that carmaker Toyota is preparing to face an increase in chips shortages, which could continue until 2023. He also said that 8 million vehicles could be sold next year, even in the worst case scenario.

The magazine stated that even if the situation improves Volkswagen’s sales for next year are likely to be slightly below the 2021 numbers.
