Meanwhile, Infosys Ltd (NS.:) was up 2.16% (or 37.40 points) to finish at 1771.60 Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS) saw a 1.76% increase or 6.75 points, to 391.05 late trade.

These were the worst performers of the session. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS): Traded at 450.50 after the close by falling 1.71%, or 7.85 points. Cipla Ltd. (NS) fell 1.64%, or 14.70 points, to finish at 881.00 ICICI Bank Ltd (NS): The decline in NS was 1.48% (11.0 points), to 741.15.

Bajaj Finance Ltd. (BO) rose 2.61% at 7028.60. Infosys Ltd. (BO) was up 2.19% at 1771.40. Titan Company Ltd. (BO) gained 1.47% at close at 2357.20.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(BO:), which fell 1.51% to 7452.65 by late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd. (“BO:”) which dropped 1.50% to 741.30, and Bajaj Auto Ltd. [BO:] which declined 1.44% towards 3250.00 at close.

On the India National Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those that advanced by 1170, 621, and 28 ended unchanged. The Bombay Stock Exchange saw 1811 fall and 1446 advance, and 98 ending unchanged.

The February delivery of Gold Futures was higher by 1.29%, or 22.75, to $1787.25 per troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil for January delivery rose 1.6% or 0.82, to $71.69 per barrel. The February Brent oil contract rose 0.77 or 1.04% to $74.65 per barrel.

USD/INR decreased 0.30%, to 76.113. EUR/INR was at 0.1% lower, to 86.0640.

US Dollar Index Futures were down 0.3% at 96.190.
