Bruce Springsteen is selling his music catalog in massive deal: report

Bruce Springsteen has decided to sell his music rights. Sony Music EntertainmentThis could prove to be one of the most significant deals ever made for any artist’s work. a report in Billboard.

It is believed that Springsteen will be selling his entire music catalogue and some of his songwriter work. The report stated this. The report said that it could be worth more than $500 million according to Billboard.

Billboard reports that it will allow Sony to own the entire Springsteen song collection, including “Born to Run” (and “Born in the U.S.A”)

An announcement is yet to be made. CNBC received no response from Sony representatives.

Springsteen worked for Columbia Records (a Sony Music unit) throughout his career.

Investors and music companies have spent millions of dollars to buy up song catalogues in the wake of streaming. Bob Dylan and Shakira, two of the most famous artists in music history, have made huge sales of all or parts their work. They sold it for hundreds of millions. Warner Music acquired worldwide rights for David Bowie’s music catalog in September.
