Eight heart inflammation cases among young kids who got COVID-19 shot

(Reuters] -The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on Thursday it had received reports about eight cases of myocarditis among children between the ages of 5 and 11. This refers to a condition that causes inflammation in the heart. Pfizer (NYSE:) BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccination.

The CDC stated previously that the reporting rate of myocarditis in boys aged 16-17 could rise to more than 69 cases for every million administered second doses, and approximately 40 cases per thousand second doses for those aged 12-15.

The CDC has not stated whether or not it thinks there’s a connection between myocarditis and vaccines, nor did they disclose myocarditis rates for those who haven’t vaccinated.

According to the agency, there were more than 7 million doses of vaccine in the 5–11 age range at the time that it reviewed the data. There had been 5.1 million doses for the first and 2 million doses for the second. According to the CDC, there was no severe clinical reaction.

All cases were reported in the U.S. Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System was presented to a panel by the CDC.
