WASHINGTON (Reuters] – While the Biden administration is not yet certain whether they will stop further U.S. technology sales to Chinese chipmaker SMIC, it has raised the possibility that allies could discuss additional restrictions regarding the sale of chip-making equipment in China with sources close to a Thursday meeting.
According to sources, officials at the meeting with deputies of various U.S. agencies discussed the possibility to make sales more difficult to SMIC and other China-based chipmakers.
