Chainlink announces the winners of the $550K Hackathon Prize pool

Chainlink, the leading oracle network for the blockchain industry announced today the Fall 2021 Hackathon winners. The event awarded $550,000 in prizes, received nearly 290 project submissions, and recorded 7,800+ signups—double that of Chainlink’s Spring hackathon. The event brought together participants from all over the globe to share their enthusiasm and talents for creating the next generation hybrid smart contracts.

Chainlink and other sponsors of the hackathon awarded prizes to teams who showed extraordinary creativity and implemented new uses cases. These use cases included decentralized finance, non-fungible tokens, decentralized autonomous organisations (DAOs), social impact and decentralized financial services (DeFi), as well as developers tooling that allows engineers to easily utilize Chainlink oracles within their applications. A survey revealed that 40% to 40% of the participants had no prior experience with smart contracts development, while 40% to 40% did not have any programming knowledge at all.

It’s been an amazing ride to see so many developers using smart contracts and Oracles to create such innovative and powerful apps.
Patrick Collins is the Chainlink Labs’ lead developer advocate.

“This is the place to be for innovation, as it’s home to one of largest blockchain hackathons. This is where Web3 and technology will be built in the future.
Chainlink Fall 2021 Hackathon presented prizes in a range of categories. These included the $30,000 grand award and topical prizes in crucial blockchain verticals. Of the nearly 290 project submissions received, 90 used Chainlink’s Verifiable Randomness Function (VRF), 64 projects used Chainlink Data Feeds, 46 used Chainlink Keepers, and 92 used Chainlink’s any API functionality. This event was able to allow participants to choose the blockchain that best suits their needs, as Chainlink can be natively integrated with over 10 different blockchains.
