MELBOURNE (Reuters – On Sunday, a light plane crashed into the water off Australia’s east coast killing all four passengers and two children.
Police said that the pilot, a 69-year old male, had brought three people on joy rides. Shortly after takeoff, the plane crashed into a northeast Queensland wetland.
Photographs showed Rockwell International’s plane floating upside down at Moreton Bay.
The police are trying to find the male passenger as well as the children. Inspector Craig White stated that the children were younger than teens.
White stated to reporters that it was a tragedy in the run-up to Christmas. It is the worst thing any family should go through during this season.
Angus Mitchell from the Australian Transportation Safety Board stated that a report about the possible cause of the crash will be done in six to eight week.
