REUTERS/Eduardo Munoz/File PhotoNEW YORK (Reuters – Jefferies Financial Group Inc Chief Executive Officer Richard Handler posted on Instagram Sunday, that he tested positive for COVID after deciding to request Jefferies employees to return to home.
Handler stated that he will complete the 10th day in quarantine Monday. Handler called his illness’ timing and request for work from home “ironic”, and stated that it demonstrated how “none of our futures is in control.”
Handler stated in another posting that Saturday’s Handler had said the company was “tentatively shooting” for January 17th as a return date to office.
Jefferies asked employees to return home on December 8 after a series of COVID-19-related cases. All client parties were cancelled and all travel plans cancelled by the firm.
Wall Street banks, investment companies and other businesses have gone further than others in asking employees to return to work. Omicron coronavirus, which is rapidly spreading in the United States, has derail many of these efforts.
Handler thanked Sunday’s post author for his appreciation of the government, medical professionals, and companies that provided vaccines and boosters, “which allowed me to have a brief illness” and “a quick recovery.”
