TOKYO (Reuters). Toyota Motor (NYSE:) Corp announced Monday that it will suspend production in five factories domestically during January because of supply chain problems, shortages of chips and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Japan’s leading automaker has stated that the factory shutdown will impact approximately 20,000 vehicles but not their annual goal of producing nine million units.

Toyota last week stated that it expected a larger reduction in North American vehicle production to approximately 50,000 units in January due to problems in the supply chain.
