World Economic Forum defers Davos meeting amid pandemic -Breaking

ZURICH, (Reuters) – The World Economic Forum has rescheduled until mid-2022 the annual meeting of its World Economic Forum. It was due to be held in Davos (Switzerland) in January.

It said that the event was a point of convergence for political and business leaders around the globe, but it has been delayed due to uncertainty about the Omicron virus.

The current global pandemic situation makes it difficult for a worldwide in-person meeting to be held. The Geneva-based WEF stated that preparations were guided by experts and have received the support of all levels of government.

“Despite the meeting’s stringent health protocols, the transmissibility of Omicron and its impact on travel and mobility have made deferral necessary.”
