REUTERS/Lindsey Wasson/File PhotographWASHINGTON, (Reuters) – Boeing’s Chief Executive Officer Dave Calhoun and Airbus Americas CEO Jeffrey Knittel urged Monday the Biden Administration to delay plans for 5G wireless service deployments. They said it would harm aviation safety.
The executives in a joint letter seen by Reuters to U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg asked him to support postponing AT&T (NYSE:) and Verizon (NYSE:)’s planned Jan. 5 deployment of C-Band spectrum 5G wireless.
The letter stated that 5G interference “could adversely impact the aircraft’s ability to safely operate,” and added it could have an “immensive negative effect on the aviation industry”.
