WASHINGTON (Reuters] – U.S. president Joe Biden offered unvarnished advice Tuesday to one fourth of American adults still not vaccinated with the coronavirus vaccine. He said that the Omicron version can cause you to become very sick, or even death.

Biden, a Democrat, took office January as a pledge to control the coronavirus after Republican Donald Trump had reduced its severity while deaths rose.

Biden’s approach has changed since then.

To counter Republican politicians and conservative commentators, the White House has asked for help from brewers, sports teams, churches, and mayors of cities to assist in defending vaccine rules.

In a televised speech on Tuesday, he appealed to the unvaccinated by saying: “Your choice can be the difference between life and death.”

Sixty-two percent of U.S. citizens have not been fully immunized. This is one of the lowest vaccination rates in wealthy countries. The highest number of deaths per capita in U.S. are in states that have low rates of vaccination, most of which are in the South.

UNITY, FREE BEER

In June, the White House collaborated with Anheuser Busch to offer Americans free beer if they received one vaccine during the U.S. Independence Day celebration.

Biden stated that “we need everybody across the nation to pull together in order to get to the finish line”, then. “I can promise you that we will accomplish this.”

In early August, the U.S. reached its July 4 goals.

CASH FOR JABS The U.S. Treasury granted state and local governments the right to access COVID-19 relief funds in order to provide $100 to newly vaccinated persons.

Biden explained that while it may seem unjust to pay people to get vaccinated, this is not the case for everyone who has been vaccinated. Here’s the deal. If incentives are helpful in beating this virus, then I believe they should be used.

Get Out of the Way Biden responded to Republican pressure on Florida and Texas for mask mandates, but did not name names.

“Some governors won’t do the right things to stop this pandemic,” he stated. These governors, I urge you to get out of this way if they aren’t going to do anything.

Biden changed from carrot to stick Sept. 10, when the administration rolled out extensive vaccine regulations for federal contractors and medical personnel. According to the White House, gentle outreach and bipartisan meetings are not effective.

Although they were challenged by the courts, these rules have pushed vaccine rates to 96% in vast U.S. federal employees.

POLITICIANS STRIKING AWAY

Biden indicted the Republican governors (including Greg Abbott from Texas and Ron DeSantis from Florida) of violating September’s rules mid-September.

Biden declared, “This type of politics is the most destructive… and it’s not something I want to accept.”

SERIOUS ILLNESS and DEATH The White House Coronavirus Task Force (and then Biden) warned that Americans without vaccination could face winters of severe illness and death due to the Omicron virus variant.

The White House did not back down, even though the dire message was widely criticized for being unlikely to affect the minds of people who aren’t vaccinated.
