WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – Anthony Fauci, a top U.S. infectious diseases expert said Wednesday that large groups of more than 40 persons are not safe even for those who have received a booster vaccine.

There are many parties with 30, 40 or 50 members. You don’t know their vaccination status. Fauci told a White House briefing that these are not the functions Omicron wants you to do.

U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Wilensky stated that the seven-day average number of COVID-19 patients in America increased 25% over the past week, reaching approximately 149.300 cases per hour.

Walensky said that 73% to 90% of coronavirus cases are in the Omicron variety. This variant is also found in parts of the Midwest and South.

She said, “This Omicron increase is exactly what we expected and what have been planning for.”
