(Reuters) – The Victoria state gaming commission announced Thursday that Crown Resorts Ltd was fined A$1,000,000 ($720,700.00), for failing to adhere to junket regulations.

The regulator currently imposes the maximum fine, however legislation has been passed to raise it to A$100million.

According to the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation, Crown Melbourne had been in touch with an “unsuitable” operator of junkets. The regulator directed Crown Melbourne to stop all junket activities. However, Crown Melbourne allowed the associate to continue these operations.

Crown Resorts did not notify the state gambling commission about their associate. According to the regulator, this was in addition to the fact that Crown Resorts had failed others to do so.
