China names Chinalco director as head of new rare earths firm -Breaking

BEIJING (Reuters – China’s state assets regulator stated Friday that Ao Hung, a director of state-run metals group Chinalco had been elected chairman of a newly formed rare earths firm. The company will combine three large producers of the mineral.

Also, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission(Sasac), announced that Liu Leiyun (chair of China Minmetals Rare Earth Co) had been appointed general manager of China Rare Earth Group Co.

China Minmetals Rare Earth will be combined with China Southern Rare Earth Group Co, and Chinalco’s rare earths unit.
